17 mile cross country from burns flat to flying aces field. (Not a speed race)

Goal is to see how close you can get to a pre flown timed flight. Need to allow 30-40 minutes of fuel for unexpected situations such as wind, etc.

7:00a.m. – Breakfast at Rudy’s café in Burns Flat.

8:00a.m. – Check in at staging area (Follow signs)

8:30a.m. – 1st takeoff  (others every 2-3 minutes)

 Rules

  1. Will be under frequency control from flying field as fly-in will be in progress.
  2. Maps will be supplied at check-in. Can also get them at club website – easy route.
  3. Vehicle & driver required – most common is pickup.
  4. A seat of some type securely fastened in back of pickup.
  5. Some form of communication between driver and pilot.
  6. Timed flight will begin when wheels lift off & end when wheels touch down. (Bounced landing or touch & go does not count. Wheels have to remain on ground).
  7. In case of tied times, the tying time moves to next lower place and that place moves down, if 3rd place is tied, the tying time is dropped.

If you have never done this – try it! It’s fun!

If you don’t know how to set up extra tank or tanks, e-mail or call & we will explain. You need to test fly to make sure system works & get the feel of it. Tip – Goggles are good – keeps wind out of eyes.

 Directions to X-country

From I-40 take exit 53 – 7 miles south to Burns Flat. Meet at Rudy’s café (TEXACO). We will then go to the takeoff area from there.
