Our Field
The new field is the culmination of six years of dreaming, planning, designing, soliciting donations and
finally building. The nine-acre field is leased from the city of Elk City. The main runway is 45ft wide by
500ft long and is surfaced with a woven fabric that is normally used as an under layment for asphalt. A
taxiway that parallels the main runway is 12ft by 250ft, with connecting taxiways to the runway at each end and
in the middle using the same type of woven fabric. Helicopter pads have been put in place on both the
North and the South end of the taxiways adjacent to the main runway. The field has running water, a
septic system, and restrooms (his & hers). We have a combination clubhouse / concession stand
with heat and air-conditioning. Normally it is used as the clubhouse for meetings and for a place to
get out of the heat during the summer time months during flying sessions. During a fly-in, it becomes the
concession stand for serving food and drink to the pilots and spectators. Come on out and enjoy
our new field. We love it!!!!
Helicopters,
Giant Scale and Jets are all welcome.
Here are some photos taken of the flying field. The runway is 43ft wide by 500ft long running North/South. It is made of the same material that is put down before laying asphalt on highways. The taxiways are of the same material.
